What's Obscene??

Happened to read this article in dinamalar. Looks like some people have been arrested for obscene acts in public.

One blogger has posted saying that we bloggers should all raise a voice for this insanity? He claims that this is no violation of anything and people should not have been arrested. Well, I agree with him. But I stop there.

Lets talk more about "sex in the country". I put forth one request to the government. Please legalize prostitution in the country. Educate the prostitutes about sex, atleast the AIDS rate will go down. Looking back, the government cant deny prostitution in India.

But coming back to the news, This is all fine, its the so called westernization ( or should i call it confusion ) and the government really cant do anything if people are living like this. Sorry, It should have read, the government really shouldnt do anything. Its their life and if you are arresting them for it, its against too many fundamental rights. ( I dont remember what the fundamental rights are, never was that good in civics )

Once I and a friend were discussing about how guys gaze at girls. She was arguing something in the lines of calling it an indecent act. Well I do agree, it is an indecent act. But, i had/have a doubt. Say, I wear tight jeans with nothing underneath, wont it attract some eyes. (pardon the obscenity, it was utterly essential :) )

Actually, it might become a laughing affair, I agree the impact over girls is different. But the baseline is, you godamned perfectly know in your heads that you are going to attract eyes by dressing like that right, So why complain about guys gazing.

The bottomline is this. Noone stops you from wearing whatever you want, noone stops u from acting whatever way you want in public, But dont cry over it later. Dont say that you are not being given the proper sort of looks. Simple terms, you asked for it and you got it. Same with me, I would also be getting the same if i go out with tight jeans wearing nothing underneath. The gaze is gonna come. Its perfectly normal, just like an extremely drunk alcoholic puking, indecent but unavoidable.

Now, I do agree that arresting people for acting obscene in public is wrong. You are just deteriorating them further. You would make them do things in private now :), thats it. They are going to do it undershades and Undershades things will only get worse.
